Teaching is my passion and well worth doing! I have been in the profession since 1992 and find that each year I grow along with my students. I have created a classroom environment that will hopefully inspire, encourage, and challenge students to discover their strengths and grow as individuals. I will care for your child each day and partner with you as we celebrate their accomplishments.
My education includes a multiple-subject teaching credential and a Master's degree in Instructional Leadership and Curriculum. However, I have come to realize that it doesn't matter how many degrees I have unless I can reach a student.

I am organized, honest and genuine. I have a strong work ethic and an enduring faith. I'm an open communicator with a mixture of compassion and tough love, when needed. I love to figure out what makes each child unique and help them become confident learners.
This is my 19th year teaching at San Pasqual Union. I taught kindergarten for 8 years, including a K/1 combination class (twice), as well as teaching second grade, a 2/3 combination class. I spent 3 years a fourth grade teacher and now I'm thrilled to be teaching third grade. I previously taught first grade for three years at Escondido Christian School. In 2010, I was named Teacher of the Year for our district.
On a personal note, I was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in New Jersey with a twin sister and two older brothers. We are a Gold Star family. I was married in Chicago (Go Cubs!) and have two sons. My oldest is married with two little girls who have stolen my heart and we have one more baby girl due on November 3rd! My youngest son is happily single (for now) and dating a honey of a girl! I was divorced in 1986, never remarried (I was too busy raising those boys!) and still go by "Mrs. Kelly".
I live in North Escondido. Our eight year old rescue dog, Abbey, is finally done with her "chewing stage" after eating my couch, my kitchen floor, a wall and my cell phone! I love antiques, to laugh with friends, grow roses, read, drink Starbucks, watch my sons' hockey games, be a Gma and go to the beach. I miss back East, the seasons, jumping in leaf piles and catching fireflies. My favorite color is pink.
My "Bucket List" is to: visit Iceland, own a red sports car, learn to play the piano, see a Broadway play in New York, go parasailing, tour Venice by canal and write a children's book.
